Logistics, Transportation & Parking (LTP) is moving to a 24/7 gated environment at the Central Campus structures. This change improves parking space availability for valid permit holders and reduces unauthorized parking.
As installations of the new parking gate equipment begin to wrap up on Central Campus, LTP will begin keep gates in operation 24/7 to reduce unauthorized parking that typically occurs when the gates are raised.
Valid Permit Users
Valid Blue and Gold permit holders will be able to enter 24 hours a day, and the gates will continue to work for your vehicle(s) on record. Student After-Hours permits will continue to be valid from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. Monday – Friday, and all day on Saturdays and Sundays. The new gate hardware uses LPR (License Plate Recognition). The gate will scan your plate and open automatically. As a backup, you can always tap your MCard at the reader for entry.
If you encounter any issues, press the Intercom/Assistance button on the gate column to speak with a staff member who can quickly assist you.
Non-Permit Users
Starting at 4:00 p.m. each weekday, and all day on Saturdays and Sundays, parking gates will have an automated visitor payment system that allows for temporary access. Customers can enter the structure and pay a flat $10 evening/daily rate via credit card directly at the entrance. This allows parking until 5:00 a.m. the following morning.
Please note: Evening/daily rate customers will be charged an additional overstay fee of $20 if they stay after the 5:00 a.m. exit time. This is intended to reduce the number of people who stay overnight and into the peak parking hours of the following day.
Parking Space Availability and MGoPark Update
This change will help improve data accuracy for the Parking Space Availability Tool and MGoPark by more accurately counting how many vehicles enter and exit each parking location.
LTP temporarily delisted locations during the installation of the equipment. Final testing of the data accuracy of the new system is underway for Fletcher, Church, and Hill Parking Structures.
Thayer, Palmer, Thompson, and Forest will come in the weeks following, as they still have active construction and software adjustments being made.
