The U-M Police Department (UMPD) is responsible for enforcing University parking regulations. The regulations are in force throughout the calendar year except for:

  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving Day and the following day
  • Christmas through New Year’s Day

The distinctive University block M is used on all parking control signs to identify U-M parking locations. Parking control signs are installed at the entrances of every University parking lot and structure and indicate the primary parking type, permits required, enforcement hours, and location identification number. Parking facilities are open to the public outside enforcement hours. Published enforcement hours are available for Central, Medical, North, and Ross Athletic campuses. Parking enforcement issues can be reported by calling (734) 763-1131.

If you have a problem related to a parking citation and wish to contest the citation, a City of Ann Arbor parking referee is available to hear your complaint. Parking violation payment options are listed on the City of Ann Arbor website.
