The following transit services are designed to meet special needs and to fill in the gaps between regular service hours.
::Please be aware that all services other than SafeRide (TransLoc) and AAATA Service will be through Golden Limousine. These vehicles will be identified as Golden Limousine and not University of Michigan branding.::
SafeRide
SafeRide is a free service that transports students, faculty, and staff to their residence or vehicle within a one-mile radius of campus. Riders may use this service once per evening and must present a valid U-M ID (Mcard). During Fall and Winter terms, this service is available daily from 8:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
An employee from U-M Transit Services will come to your campus location and drive you to your requested location (within a one-mile driving radius of Central and North campuses). During non-service hours, alternative service providers may be identified by UMPD.
To request a ride,
- During Fall and Winter terms, you may request a ride through the TransLoc OnDemand.
If you do not have mobile app/computer access, you may call (734) 647-8000, and select Option 1.
Ride Home
Free ride-share service provided by Golden Limousine for students, faculty, and staff to their residence halls, vehicles parked in U-M-operated lots or structures, or local residences (within a one-mile radius of Central and North Campuses). This service is available after U-M transit buses have concluded daily service, seven days a week:
- September through April, 2:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m.
- May through August, 1:00 a.m. – 7:00 a.m.
North Campus – rides are available from the Duderstadt Center.
Medical Campus – rides are available from 1:00 a.m. through 7:00 a.m. from the UH South Employee Entrance.
Central Campus – rides are available from the Shapiro Undergraduate Library.

State Street Ride
Free after-hours ride-share service provided by Golden Limousine from any U-M building to the South State Street Commuter (Park & Ride) lot after buses have concluded daily service. This service is available Monday through Friday from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.

AAATA Late Night/Holiday Service – FlexRide
FlexRide provides curb-to-curb service during late-night hours and on major holidays when regular fixed-route service is not available. Service is provided in accessible vehicles. Fares vary based on riders eligibility for discounts and if the trip ends or begins outside of Ann Arbor. Also available on all major holidays. Refer to the AAATA website for pricing and additional details.
Michigan Medicine Late-Night Shuttles
Late Night Shuttles provided by Golden Limousine (Monday – Saturday morning – 10:30PM – 5AM) provide return service from Taubman Entrance. The service area includes East Ann Arbor (EC1), Plymouth Road Park & Ride, Green Road Park & Ride and Northeast area lots near NCRC. Parkers requiring return transportation to lots along Fuller Road, Glazier Way, Wall Street or other areas outside of the service area should plan to use university bus service or, when needed, other late-night options including Ride Home or Emergency Ride Home.
Emergency Ride Home
Free ride-share provided by Golden Limousine can be provided in emergency situations for faculty, staff, and students on the Ann Arbor campus to return to their vehicle parked in remote lots or to any location (home, school, daycare provider, etc.). Eligible types of emergencies covered by the program include personal or family illness or injury, unscheduled overtime or other mandatory work-related holdovers, or stranded carpool or vanpool riders.
The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Use of the program is limited to six times per permit year. It is the responsibility of the user of the program to keep track of the number of rides per permit year. For any rides requested over the six per permit year, the rider will be charged at the time of service.
