While most students were away this summer, a change in how users request and track late-night transportation took place.
The TapRide app that was used for SafeRide and the Bio Research Shuttle has been replaced with the TransLoc OnDemand app.
DoubleMap (TapRide) and TransLoc recently merged and were acquired by Modaxo. After the acquisition, the TapRide app was retired and all participating users were asked to migrate to the TransLoc OnDemand app.
With an improved algorithm, more accurate ETAs for transportation, and reduced wait times, the new TransLoc app is said to continue delivering the same safe and reliable service the U-M community has come to expect from LTP.
Other features include keeping track of ride history to make rebooking trips easier and improved notifications for users.
