Buses line Bonisteel Blvd on North Campus during homecoming as students and families walk the sidewalk and ride on segways.
The Bonisteel Boulevard Water Main and Road Reconstruction project on North Campus will begin in early March.

According to the project management team, construction is set to run from March 1 – August 31, parking on Bonisteel will be closed, as well as changes to traffic patterns and bus routes along the boulevard during this time.

Individuals working on or visiting North Campus should be aware and plan accordingly, as their usual travel times will likely be affected.

Street Adjustments

From March 4 – March 14 Bonisteel will be closed both ways (except for service vehicles heading to Duderstadt and Pierpont loading docks).

Once the initial phase of the project is completed, traffic will be closed on one side of the boulevard while construction is being done on the other.

During this time, there will be two-way traffic on the roads, thus the reason for removing parking on the street. Once this phase is completed, the process will repeat on the other side of the street. Again, Bonisteel will be under construction until sometime in August 2023.

Parking Impacts

Parking along both sides of Bonisteel will become unavailable during the duration of the project. Barricades are scheduled to begin blocking all street parking (East and West Bound) on February 28, after 6 pm. Those who typically park along the boulevard are advised to utilize NW10 (click here for a map) as an alternative. The western portion of the parking lot is currently signed for Blue parking.

Another option is the Blue parking in NC43 (just south of Taubman). Between NW10 and NC43, individuals should hopefully find enough spots to compensate for the temporary loss of parking on Bonisteel.

Bus Route Adjustments

Routes affected: Commuter North, Commuter South, Diag-to-Diag Express, Northwood.

Please check the MagicBus app and/or transit alerts page on the LTP website to find updated routes and time information during the construction period.
