According to AAA's 2016 edition of "Your Driving Costs", the average annual cost to drive a passenger vehicle (sedan) is 57.1 cents per mile for 15,000 miles. Cost estimates do not include full-coverage insurance, license, registration, taxes, depreciation (15,000 miles annually), vehicle loan payments, or finance charges.

** Vanpool rate is based on monthly rate for full-time (at least 32 hours/wk) University of Michigan employees driving a late model Dodge Caravan (20 mpg). For more information check out the Vanpool page. Cost is $25/month plus fuel. Fees are waived for drivers.

*** Rates noted based on 2019 U-M sponsored monthly rate. Individual trips are $5 one way.

**** Detroit Connector rate is based on the commuter rate of $6 each way. Riders make reservations online, with one-way trips ranging between $6-$10. Pell Grant students from U-M are able to ride the Connector for free, with reduced fares available to U-M students and faculty who engage in community service or class activities in Detroit.
